In accordance with the newly unveiled LIFT strategic roadmap presented in late April, Manitou Group is positioning robotics as a foundational element of its innovation strategy by securing acknowledged proficiencies in this domain. As part of this, Manitou Group is acquiring Sitia’s robotics division. This transaction underscores the company’s commitment to integrating robotics as a key pillar in the further development of its product portfolio.

Sitia’s robotic acumen will enable the group to expedite the development of high value-added products and services, addressing the evolving needs of its clientele within the agricultural and semi-industrial sectors.

A team of seven people, including PhD students and engineers with extensive experience in robotics development, including the development of the autonomous agricultural tractor robot, the Trector, will be integrated into the Manitou Group’s research and development teams. This acquisition also includes the intellectual property of Sitia’s robotics division, according to the press release. Furthermore, the new Manitou Group Robotics division is expected to be established later this year.

Julien Waechter, Vice President – Manitou Group R&D said, “Sitia has been a partner with whom we have collaborated for nearly a decade, and which has embarked on its transformation towards cutting-edge robotic activity. Through this acquisition, we shall enrich our capabilities with a team of recognized experts and benefit from proven technological building blocks. Our aspiration is to thus fortify our leadership position to continue innovating and to advance further in the development of solutions, to meet the evolving expectations of our customers.”
