Claas plans short-time work in autumn 2025

Claas has announced that it plans to implement a short-time work phase for parts of its workforce at the Harsewinkel site in August 2025 and at the Paderborn site in September 2025. The short-term work programme will affect a total of approximately 1,000 production employees. The company said that no short-time work is planned at any other locations this year.

The German farm machinery company is more optimistic about the machinery markets for 2026; it reported that it anticipates stable and slightly recovering markets. Jan-Hendrik Mohr, CEO of the Claas Group, said: “Claas will continue to implement its planned investment program unchanged.”

Temporary short-time work in selected areas will help secure existing jobs in the long term and bridge the temporary decline in orders, according to Claas. The company report added, “The background to this measure is the persistently challenging market conditions in agriculture. A noticeable reluctance to invest among farmers and contractors is coincident with macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties and, in some cases, low producer prices.”

At the Harsewinkel plant, the short-time work announced for comes within the regular Harsewinkel holiday shutdown period, thus extending it by two working weeks.
