Motor Distributors Limited has added to its eight-strong BYD model range which is available through its nationwide network of 17 dealers. Making its debut is the all-new BYD ATTO 2 Super Hybrid, the fourth BYD hybrid to launch in Ireland. Joining it is the all-electric BYD ATTO 3 EVO, a comprehensive update of the model that introduced the BYD brand to many Irish motorists when it arrived here just three years ago.
BYD ATTO 2 Super Hybrid
In the ATTO 2 Super Hybrid, two competitively priced models ‘Active’ and ‘Boost’ are offered at €32,990 and €35,990 respectively. As with previous models, a generous level of standard equipment continues to be offered.
Equipped with BYD’s Super DM (Dual Mode) hybrid technology, the BYD ATTO 2 delivers what BYD claims is ‘class-leading fuel efficiency’. That equates to a combined WLTP range up to 1,000kms on a weighted fuel consumption figure of only 1.8-litres /100km – a return likely to go a long way towards slashing an owner’s running costs.
Delivering SUV style in a compact form (4,330mm long, 1,830mm wide, 1,675mm tall with space-boosting 2,620mm wheelbase), the BYD ATTO 2 delivers battery capacities up to 18.0KWh, power up to 156kW, 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.5 secs, and electric-only range up to 90km.
BYD ATTO 3 EVO
The BYD ATTO 3 EVO arrives in two model variants: a rear-wheel drive ‘Design’ version, which comes on the market at €40,530 and the ‘Excellence’ version equipped with permanent all-wheel drive at €43,985. The sixth all-electric BYD model introduced here, the BYD ATTO 3 EVO has an attractive new appearance with dimensions that mirror those of its predecessor.
Built on the latest version of BYD’s self-developed e-Platform 3.0, the ATTO 3 EVO is said by the manufacturer to offer substantial technical gains, over not only the original ATTO 3, but also the wider family-EV market. Switching from a solely front-wheel-drive configuration to a choice of either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the rear suspension also moves from a four-link layout to an even more sophisticated five-link system for improved dynamics.
Geared to meet the motoring needs of a broad spectrum of owners, new are its increased power, larger battery with longer range (510kms), and more rapid charging (220kW) whereby 10-80% power can be restored in just 25 minutes.
In the features mix is ambient cabin lighting, electrically adjustable heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, infotainment with 15.6-inch touchscreen, integrated Google Play Store, Maps, and Driver Assistance functions. Other features include parking sensors front and rear, 360° surround-view camera, extensive safety and driver-assistance systems, and a vehicle-to-load feature to power and charges external devices.
Load capacity is a larger 490-litres boot expandable to 1,360-litres, with a new 101-litre ‘frunk’ (front trunk) and numerous interior ‘pack-away’ storage places. Towing capacity is 1500kg (braked) and BYD’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, can power external devices at up to 3kW. A six-year manufacturer’s vehicle and eight years or 250,000km battery warranty applies.
