Volkswagen Ireland has announced a new nationwide Scrappage Offer, providing customers with significant savings when upgrading from an older vehicle to a new Volkswagen passenger car. Building on the Government’s recent announcement of a new EV Scrappage Incentive, Volkswagen Ireland is taking the initiative one step further with a broader and more accessible scrappage programme that extends beyond fully electric vehicles to include selected petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models.
The ‘Volkswagen Scrappage Offer’ of up to €8,500 extends to all powertrains, including petrol, diesel, plug-in-hybrids and electric models while stocks last, ensuring substantial savings remain available to customers beyond those provided through the Government scheme.
Customers choosing selected electric vehicles, including the ID.5 and ID.7, who also qualify for the Government’s EV Scrappage Incentive can benefit from a further €5,000 in support from Volkswagen, bringing total potential combined savings of up to €13,500 towards the cost of a new electric Volkswagen.
Recognising that every customer’s journey is different, the Volkswagen Ireland Scrappage Offer has been designed to make upgrading to a newer, cleaner and more efficient vehicle more accessible. Whether customers are making the move to fully electric driving, transitioning to a plug-in hybrid, or upgrading to a newer more efficient petrol or diesel model, the initiative offers a practical pathway into the latest Volkswagen technology.
The offer is available to private retail customers who trade in a vehicle first registered in 2016 or earlier. Eligible vehicles must be registered in the Republic of Ireland and be in a condition acceptable to the participating Volkswagen Retailer.

Many Irish motorists are driving older vehicles and are looking for a practical, affordable route into something newer, safer and more efficient. Whether that means choosing a petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid or fully electric Volkswagen, this scrappage offer helps make that transition easier.
For eligible customers considering a move to electric, combined Government and Volkswagen incentives can now deliver potential combined savings of up to €13,500 on selected models, including the ID.5 and ID.7. At the same time, our wider scrappage programme ensures that customers who are not yet ready to make the switch to fully electric can still benefit from significant support of up to €8,500 when upgrading to a newer Volkswagen.

Volkswagen Ireland’s Scrappage Offer is available on selected new Volkswagen Passenger Cars ordered and registered between 1st July and 24th July 2026, subject to availability.
