May shows 17.8% fall in German new tractor sales

The German market for new tractors recorded a 17.8% drop compared with May 2019, according to VDMA.

The latest figures on new tractor registrations from the German market, arguably Europe’s biggest tractor market shows that 2,211 new tractors were registered in May 2020, a 17.8% drop compared with May 2019. The full year market to the end of May 2020 was marginally up by 3.1% with 12,405 new tractors registered in Germany so far this year. The market is expected to reach close to 30,000 new tractor sales by the end of the year, according to VDMA, the farm machinery industry association.
The 200hp to 250hp market segment remains the most popular accounting for over 12,700 new tractors so far this year in Germany. The next most popular segment is the 91hp to 100hp segment which recorded sales this year of 1,209 new tractors.
