Kubota is investing in the Norwegian agricultural technology start-up Kilter AS, which specializes in autonomous, high-precision spot spraying solutions for weed control in specialty crops. Kubota is acting as the lead investor alongside existing shareholders such as SBG Invest AS, Pymwymic, and Nufarm. The move will enable Kilter to further expand internationally and develop its cutting-edge technology.
Kilter is a Norwegian ag-tech company developing autonomous precision weeding solutions, and the move to secure Kubota investment, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery and a global distributor with operations across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, is significant.
Kilter’s flagship system, AX-1, is designed for selective application in row and bed-based crops, allowing farmers to significantly reduce chemical usage while maintaining crop yield, crop health, and operational efficiency. The company has been in commercial operation with farmers since 2021 and today serves customers across Northern Europe, with ongoing expansion into additional international markets.
In a statement Kubota said that it believes that Kilter offers an outstanding solution to help farmers manage weeds more efficiently and sustainably. “We are excited to work alongside Kilter and our co-investors to support the company’s next phase of growth. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to strategically investing in and actively supporting innovative startups from Kubota’s global perspective,” said Miquel Albareda, Manager Corporate Development, Kubota Corporation.
