German tractor market registrations drop 22% in April

Fendt took first place in the German tractor market in April 2025 with 681 units registered, or a 25.6 percent market share.

New registrations of tractors in Germany in April 2025 were 22.3 percent lower than in the same month last year, according to the latest report from, VDMA, the German farm machinery manufacturers association. A total of 9,305 tractors were newly registered during the entire year which is a 20.3% drop compared with the first four months of 2024.

Tractors in the 151 to 160hp powerband recorded the highest decrease in sales, back by 39% from 436 units to 234 units for the year to the end of April, compared with 2024, while sales of bigger tractors over 250hp are back by an average of 35%.

The German trade magazine Eilbote has published the market shares for the month of April, 2025 where it reported that Fendt once again took first place with 681 units registered, or a 25.6 percent market share. It reported that John Deere was in second place with 542 units registered or a 20.4% market share, followed by Claas with 242 units or 9.1%). Deutz-Fahr was ranked fourth with 197 units (7.4%), Kubota at 156 units (5.9%) in fifth ahead of Case IH/Steyr at 121 units (4.6%), with New Holland in seventh place with 120 unit (4.5%).
