During 2025, the German farm machinery company Fliegl acquired the rights for the Cutaro SR 1100 self-propelled triple mower developed by Swiss company ARB-Tec. This new self-propelled mower has a cutting width is up to 11m with both the mowers and conditioning units are hydraulically driven. The unit is powered by a 350hp Mercedes-Benz engine, the standard specification includes an air-suspended cab. The machine weighs in at just 8.5 tones.
It is being reported that Fliegl plans is to produce a small number of pre-production machines with the aim of performing some field testing across Europe during 2026. We have yet to see it in action on a true grass cutting testing ground such as in Ireland. Fliegl intends to build the Cutaro at the same Kirchdorf plant as the Cargos forage wagons which it took over from Claas in 2022.
With its lightweight design of only 8.5 tonnes, a working width of 11 meters and a 350 hp engine, the mower claims to meet economic objectives and that can only mean better value for money.
In 2017, Fliegl also took a novel view of silage harvesting with the launch of the Buffel silage harvesting system. We have heard little of this low power harvesting machine system since. Perhaps the move to incorporate the Cutano into the range will give the Buffel a fresh enthusiasm.
