2025 ends on an Irish tractor market high

The latest FTMTA Statistics Service Report for December 2025 showed that new agricultural tractor registrations ended on a high with numbers for the year up by 14% compared with the 2024 market.

The December 2025 new tractor market at 16 units was 24% lower compared with the same month in 2024, while the full year 2025 new tractor registration moving total figure is 14% higher at 2,067 units compared with 1,817 units, for the full year of 2024. We also include the new Tractor Registration Data for the full year of 2024 by brand and county, in compliance with EU regulations on tractor market information sharing.

In Ireland, County Cork continued to deliver the highest number of new tractor registrations during 2025 at 295 units, while Tipperary was ranked in second place with 197 units followed by Wexford, at 120 units.

The 161hp to 200hp category was the most popular power band in 2025 and accounted for 24.43% of all new tractor registrations last year. The 50hp to 120hp category accounted for 19.21% of all new tractor registrations in 2025. The over 200hp category accounted for 11.7% of all new tractors during 2025.

The FTMTA data shows that 239 imported used tractors were first-time registered in Ireland in December 2025, 21 more units than in December 2024, while the year-to-date used tractor registration figure at 2,971 units was 204 units more than was registered for the full year of 2024.

Telescopic Loaders

The Irish market for new telescopic loaders reported no change in December up from 7 units in December 2024. The latest FTMTA data showed new telescopic registrations for the full year of 2025, increased by 42.86% to 754 units compared with the full year of 2024 when 618 units were registered. The two leading brands Manitou and JCB accounted for 72% of the total market. There were 38 imported used telescopic loaders registered in December 2025 up from 37 in December 2024.

Wheeled Loaders

The Irish wheeled loader market recorded an increased number of new registrations in December 2025 at 6 units compared with December 2024 at 4 units, which was a market increase of 33%. There were 197 new wheeled loaders registered in Ireland during 2025 up from 160 in 2024, a 23.13% increase. There were 11 imported used wheeled loaders registered in December 2025 compared with 4 in December 2024.

Backhoe Loaders

The Irish backhoe loader market increased in December 2025 compared with December 2024 with 2 new machines registered. There were 2 used backhoe loaders registered in December 2025 in Ireland. For the period from January to December 2025 there were 54 new backhoe loaders registered in Ireland, up from 52 registered in 2024.

UTV Registrations

There were 3 new UTV’s registered in Ireland in December 2025, the same number as registered in December 2024. For 2025 there were 271 new UTV’s registered in Ireland compared with 281 for 2024, a 3.5% year-to-date decline. There were 3 used imported UTV registered for the first time in December 2025 and for the full year of 2025 there were 40 used UTV imports.
