The Renault Symbioz, launched in Ireland at the end of last year is now available with two new powertrains, the TCe mild hybrid 140 manual and the E-Tech full hybrid 160, with entry prices starting from €31,995.
Combining the qualities of a compact car and a family car and at just 4.41 metres long, Symbioz delivers the best of the C segment, with boot space of up to 624 litres, interior space and a sliding rear bench seat that can be positioned as required.
For 252 Symbioz gains a refined and responsive mild hybrid engine, the TCe 140, with a 6-speed manual gearbox and is now available in the new entry Evolution trim. This powertrain features a, 1.3 litre 4-cylinder petrol turbo engine, boosted by an efficient 12v mild hybrid system with CO2 emissions as low as 131g/km and consumption just 5.8l/100km.
In addition to the TCe 140, a new E-Tech hybrid 160 engine is introduced to the Symbioz range. With a larger-capacity petrol engine (now 1.8 litres), this new engine has increased horsepower and improved torque which allows the engine to deliver its performance with less frequent recourse to high revs. The engine’s ability to deliver performance at lower revs also improves efficiency, giving a reduced consumption figure of 4.4l/100km and even shaves €10 off the annual road tax. With this new engine power is up from 145hp to 160hp, with CO2 emissions reduced as low as 98g/km and consumption to as little as 4.3l/100km. The new full hybrid E-Tech 160 hp 1.8l powertrain also increases towing capacity from 750kg to 1,000kg.
The new entry level Evolution trim means the 252 entry price of Symbioz E-Tech hybrid 160 is now €34,995 and comes standard with 10.1” touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking cameras and sensors, cruise control and speed limiter, auto climate control as well as additional features from the launch model.
Techno trim for both powertrains adds state of the art navigation and multimedia thanks to OpenR Link with Google built in, adaptive cruise control, 18” diamond cut alloys, multi-sense driving modes, wireless phone charging and LED interior lighting features.
Moving up to the Techno Esprit Alpine with E-Tech hybrid 160 (from €39,595) adds hands free tailgate, 19” Esprit Alpine diamond cut alloys and sports seats, heated front seats and steering wheel and contextual adaptive cruise with lane centering assist.
The Iconic Esprit Alpine trim with E-Tech hybrid 160 includes the Solarbay opacifying sunroof and Harman/Kardon premium audio, 360 degree parking camera and full auto park (from €41,595).
